Chrysler PT
Cruiser Production to End this summer
This is the
time to say Good bye to the Chrysler PT Cruiser which has been a choice amongst
rivalries for years. The company management has taken the decision to shut down
the plant operations with sale of all the capital assets and machinery and
other resources used to produce the vehicle.
The reason
of this shut down is the sudden shortfall of the sales figures by 55% since 2001.
Last year the sales figures stood merely at 51000 approximately. The fixed cost
of the company was even not getting recovered, which turned out to a decision
of selling of the all the assets relating to production and paying off the
debts.
There was a
proposal before the management to cut down the production of the car instead of
completely shutting down the production. But considering the operational
expense and fixed costs and overheads, the production and the proposed sales
were not even covering the fixed costs and the production overheads. The models which the company is prosing to discontinue
as a reason of the declined sale figures and the corresponding demand in the
market are country minivan, 300C, Sebring and Dodge Magnum. Following the league is Gonzo wagon whose
sales stood only at 75% compared to last year.
For all the
aficionados of Chrysler PT Cruiser, this is the time to have a car booked
unless all the stock is exhausted from the market. As a consequence, one has to
wait till coming March to have hold of Chrysler PT Cruiser. The market has
given a mixed response with the news of Chrysler PT Cruiser discontinuation,
one set of the people have welcomed such an action with a hope of a improvised
model and variants coming in and on the other hand people have shown their
disappointment of such a discontinuation.
Though the car
is proposed to be discontinued but the production will be continued till the
end of 2010 after then it would be discontinued completely and the stocks
already available in the market would be only available for sale. However, the
discontinuation will be replaced by Fiat 500, which is expecting a great
response from the consumers.
Till the
time the Chrysler PT Cruiser is discontinued, complete overhauling of the plant
is planned. It is hoped that the new
generation of Chrysler PT Cruiser will be exhilarating and start a new era for
the beloved Chrysler PT Cruiser.
